We’re delighted to share some joyful news with our community. This year, Jamyang Buddhist Centre has been recognised for the work we’ve been doing together—work rooted in compassion, equity, and care for our planet.

These awards celebrate the spirit of what makes Jamyang so special:

  • The Dangoor London Faith AwardWinner! Honouring our community affinity groups like Rainbow Sangha (for LGBTQIA+ practitioners) and Black and Curious About Buddhism, which are creating spaces for belonging and connection.
  • Southwark Faith & Belief AwardsRecognised Nominee: Recognising the Sanctuary Project, our vision for a contemplative garden that welcomes everyone and fosters equity, justice, and ecological resilience.
  • Faith & Belief Forum RecognitionRecognised Nominee: For the Planetary Crisis Summit held at Jamyang this year. Highlighting our commitment to addressing the climate crisis, inspired by Buddhist principles of interdependence and care.

These awards belong to all of us—they reflect the collective effort of our community to live and practice in ways that benefit others.

Community at the Core of Jamyang

Our affinity groups, like Rainbow Sangha and Black and Curious About Buddhism, are a vital part of our mission to make the Dharma accessible and meaningful for all, with spaces held for groups to be able connect in meaningful ways.

Rainbow Sangha provides LGBTQIA+ practitioners a safe space to explore Buddhist teachings and form deep connections. Similarly, Black and Curious About Buddhism is a welcoming place for Black individuals to discover Buddhism in a way that resonates with their unique perspectives.

These groups are more than just gatherings—they’re expressions of our values: creating spaces where everyone can feel seen, supported, and included.

The Sanctuary Project: A Space for Reflection and Healing

The Sanctuary Project is one of our most exciting initiatives. Together, we’re transforming the grounds of our historic building into a contemplative garden—a space for quiet reflection, connection, and healing.

This project has been shaped by your input, and the result will be a garden that reflects the values we hold dear: equity, inclusion, and care for the environment.

The recognition from the Southwark Faith & Belief Awards is a wonderful affirmation of this vision, and we can’t wait to see it blossom—literally and figuratively.

Taking Action for the Planet

Buddhist teachings remind us that all things are interconnected, and our actions matter. This principle has guided our work on the climate crisis—from reducing our carbon footprint to hosting teachings and events that inspire compassionate action for the planet.

The Faith & Belief Forum’s recognition of these efforts is a reminder that addressing the planetary crisis is a vital part of our practice, and something we’re committed to continuing together.

What’s Next?

These awards are a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what we’ve accomplished as a community—but they’re also an invitation to keep going. There’s still so much we can do together to build a more inclusive, compassionate, and sustainable world.

Whether it’s through joining an affinity group, volunteering, supporting the Sanctuary Project, or simply attending a teaching, you’re an essential part of this journey. Thank you for being here and for helping make these achievements possible.

Let’s keep creating this beautiful, interconnected world we all dream of—one small act of kindness at a time.
