About this Course
Introducing Meditation is an 8-week introductory course for beginners to Buddhist meditation. The course will introduce three main foundational meditation practices and support students in developing a meditation practice in daily life. Suitable to those wishing to develop a clearer, more focused mind as well as a more open, warm-hearted approach to others.
Is this for me?
Absolutely! This course is perfect for those who are interested in the Buddhist approach to meditation, and are curious about how to start integrating a meditation practice into their own lives. Introducing Meditation would also suit more experienced meditators who would like to refresh their knowledge of the fundamental aspects of meditation.
What can I expect?
Students will begin each class with a setting a motivation before being introduced to the theme of the session. This will be followed by a guided meditation and discussion. Themes will include ‘Preparing to Meditate’, ‘Nature of Mind’ and ‘Cultivating Positive Qualities’.
About the Facilitators
Jane Sill, a listed teacher with the UK Mindfulness Network, has been involved with Jamyang London Buddhist Centre for many years, coordinating The Courthouse Community Center (CCC), the sister charity of Jamyang London Buddhist Center, and also classes run by the London Center for Mindfulness. In particular, the 8-week Mindfulness for Stress Reduction courses (MBSR). In addition, she has been offering mindfulness and meditation in the community and corporate settings. Over the years she has attended many retreats and training programs, including annual retreats led by Geshe Tashi Tsering and an Educator’s Retreat led by Thich Nhat Hanh. She is registered on the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organizations Listing. She is also a qualified Yoga teacher (BWY) and a registered reflexologist (MAR)
Radek has been studied with Geshe Tashi, Geshe Graham and Geshe Namdak at Jamyang since 2008. For the last four years he has been teaching meditation at St Mungos Recovery College for homeless people recovering from addictions.
