We want students to be able to meditate in comfort, and recognise that this is difficult whilst wearing a mask. Therefore, we require that students are fully vaccinated unless exempt from, or unable to, take the vaccine on medical grounds. We also require students to present on arrival a negative lateral flow test result taken that day. Please be aware that we will update our guidance in accordance with government advice and our own risk assessment.
About this Course
Introducing Meditation is an 8-week introductory course for beginners to Buddhist meditation. The course will introduce three main foundational meditation practices and support students in developing a meditation practice in daily life. Suitable to those wishing to develop a clearer, more focused mind as well as a more open, warm-hearted approach to others.
Is this for me?
Absolutely! This course is perfect for those who are interested in the Buddhist approach to meditation, and are curious about how to start integrating a meditation practice into their own lives. Introducing Meditation would also suit more experienced meditators who would like to refresh their knowledge of the fundamental aspects of meditation.
What can I expect?
Students will begin each class with a setting a motivation before being introduced to the theme of the session. This will be followed by a guided meditation and discussion. Themes will include ‘What is meditation?’, ‘How to meditate?’ and ‘Nourishing your meditation practice.’
About the Facilitator
Grace appreciates opportunities to share useful life skills with others and to facilitate positive change through active learning. Having experienced benefits from Buddhist meditation throughout her adult life, she is motivated to share this skill with others in a grounded and practical way. Having initially learnt meditation and supported classes, Grace went on to first lead meditations during a long-term volunteership at Mahamudra Centre, an FPMT centre in New Zealand. Professionally, Grace teaches Academic English and facilitates workshops in Intercultural Communication, education being a central theme to her life.
