Celebrating The Meridian Trust
March 19 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
About this Event
The Meridian Trust creates, curates and shares an extensive collection of Tibetan Buddhist film resources. The Trust’s aim is to be a channel, a line, through which Tibetan Buddhist wisdom can flow. It holds and shares a wealth of material, from the transmission and teachings of the great venerable masters of Tibet, filmed from the late 1970s onwards, to the hundreds of hours of teachings, retreats by those at the forefront of Tibetan Buddhism today, filmed more recently.
Jamyang London Buddhist Centre has a long history and friendship with The Meridian Trust. For some time, they even shared the same premises. It is therefore our privilege to celebrate their service and contribution to the preservation of Buddhist teachings, especially in light of some incredible projects that they have been tirelessly working on:
- A new website has made their archive material accessible in a dynamic and contemporary way, allowing all of us to get the most out of their treasure trove of video content.
- Bringing the Archive Home is a project in partnership with the highly regarded Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in Dharamsala, India. The Meridian Trust is diligently unpacking and processing their entire historical film archive, with a full copy being made directly available to Tibetans in Exile (housed at LTWA).
The team from The Meridian Trust will be presenting these wonderful initiatives for us, as well as an exciting new programme that will be launched in collaboration with Jamyang London Buddhist Centre this year. Not to be missed!
We’ll end the evening with nibbles and an opportunity to socialise.
