The guided meditation drop-in sessions can help participants to relax and improve their mental wellbeing. Mindfulness meditation helps keep you in the moment and provides physical and mental health benefits, too.
What can I expect?
The hour-long session consists of a series of practices, readings, theory, and time for Q&A.
Is this for me?
Absolutely! Aimed primarily for those who have completed the 8-week Mindfulness for Stress Reduction course, the class is open to everyone interested in mindfulness practice. The class is taught in non-religious format, and does not require participants to adhere to any faith or spiritual tradition. It is perfect for those looking for practical tools to help them bring greater contentment and peace of mind into daily life.
About the facilitators
The sessions are led by qualified facilitators from the London Centre for Mindfulness on a rotational basis. All facilitators are trained and have many years of experience practicing and facilitating meditation.
Jane Sill, a listed teacher with the UK Mindfulness Network, has been involved with Jamyang London Buddhist Centre for many years, coordinating The Courthouse Community Center (CCC), the sister charity of Jamyang London Buddhist Center, and also classes run by the London Center for Mindfulness. In particular, the 8-week Mindfulness for Stress Reduction courses (MBSR). In addition, she has been offering mindfulness and meditation in the community and corporate settings. Over the years she has attended many retreats and training programs, including annual retreats led by Geshe Tashi Tsering and an Educator’s Retreat led by Thich Nhat Hanh. She is registered on the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organizations Listing. She is also a qualified Yoga teacher (BWY) and a registered reflexologist (MAR).
Cynthia Bonell, has been meditating for some 35-40 years and has studied both in the Vedic and Buddhist traditions as well as Christianity. In her professional life, she was a Primary teacher but is now retired. A long-time student of Geshe Tashi Tsering at Jamyang London Buddhist Centre, Cynthia has been teaching mindfulness for a number of years having completed the week intensive level 1 teaching course at Bangor University. She continues to practice meditation and attend retreats regularly.
William Walker, completed training in Mindfulness in 2018 and is registered on the UK listing for Mindfulness Teachers. He has led and co-led a number of 8-week Mindfulness for Stress Reduction courses for the London Centre of Mindfulness. William studied theology and philosophy at University in Scotland and London and trained for the Anglican Church ministry, before switching to teaching in schools and travelling abroad. For the past 20 or more years he has been teaching in Special Education, specialising in autism and learning difficulties. He has also had the opportunity to cultivate a strong interest in Chi Kung and Tai Chi, which he has been teaching and studying for many years now, and also in studying and practicing Buddhism. A long-time member of Jamyang, in recent years he has focussed his attention on teaching mindfulness, Chi Kung, and Tai Chi. He currently teaches both Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung and Lam style Tai Chi along with Wu Tang Dragon Sword Form more info www.standing-still.co.uk.
Chris Perrin is a highly experienced and qualified facilitator of mindfulness and NHS nurse. He uses his training in his work and also leads 8 week courses and drop-in sessions.
What will I need?
A quiet space with little privacy during the practice can be helpful.
How to join
- Please register for the session a little earlier so that you give yourself enough time to receive the Zoom link that will lead you into our little virtual meditation room on the day
- No charges need to be imposed.
- After registering, you will receive a confirmation email from Jamyang Buddhist centre containing the password for joining the Zoom meeting.
