Repaying The Kindness is a community event to support carers. Established nearly 20 years ago, the carers’ group now meets virtually via Zoom every 2 weeks.

What can I expect?
We enjoy a variety of virtual activities, from ukalele playing to drawing, Tai Chi and Chair Yoga to storytelling and recitals. All are rounded up by a virtual cup of tea and zero calorie cake.

Courageous Compassion and Ultimate Reality

About the teaching
During this course we will come to understand the most important aspects of the path to enlightenment. We will see that the stronger our compassion is for others, the more courageous the bodhicitta attitude of attaining enlightenment becomes. If this gets combined with emptiness, the view of ultimate reality, it becomes even more powerful.

Is this for me?
This class is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of Buddhist teachings, for example, by having completed Buddhist Meditation 101 or Buddhism in a Nutshell.

What can I expect?
You’ll learn how to generate these most constructive states of mind that exists in our human potential. Geshe Namdak will guide us through Gyalse Tokme Zangpo’s 37-Practices of Bodhisattvas, one of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s favourite mind training texts.

Our Resident Teacher, Geshe Tenzin Namdak, was given full ordination by HH the Dalai Lama and completed the twenty-year Geshe degree. A Dutch citizen, he teaches in English and is known for his warm, gentle and inclusive style.

Bodhichitta: the ‘mind of enlightenment’, an unwavering aspiration to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings.

The Well-being of Meditation

About the teaching
In this four-part teaching series, you will learn how to meditate and experience the benefits of meditation in your daily life

Is this for me?
This course is suitable for all, including those who are already familiar with meditation in other traditions but would like to know more about how meditation is practiced in Tibetan Buddhism.

What can I expect?
This introductory course presents basic Buddhist meditation techniques for complete beginners.

Discovering Buddhism: Establishing a Daily Practice

About the Module
In this module you will learn how to meditate at home, in order to continuously develop your human potential and live with a peaceful mind in daily life. It starts with the 6 preliminary practices and is based on A Daily Meditation Practice – How to Meditate on the Graded Path to Enlightenment, by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Is this for me?
Anyone can attend! But you’ll get the most benefit if you have a basic knowledge of Buddhism, or if you have attended previous Discovering Buddhism modules.

What can I expect?
Instructions on how to develop a consistent daily practice to suit those with a busy modern life, including those juggling work and family life.

About the Course
Discovering Buddhism is a three-year programme in entry-level Buddhist philosophy and practice, with certification. It was specifically created to reflect FPMT wisdom culture and as such is considered a key FPMT program for preserving the teaching and practice lineage of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Participants will experience a taste of the Buddha’s teachings, get acquainted with some meditation practices, and gain the skills they need to make their lives more meaningful.
