Making Practice and Daily Life Joyous

Venerable Sonam Tharchin Visit:

Making Practice and Daily Life Joyous

SAT |  18 MAY | 10:00 - 17:00

Suggested Donation £30 (does not include lunch)

/ABOUT

Come and meet Venerable Sonam Tharchin, a Nalanda monk, visiting our Centre as a part of his first UK teaching tour.

With vows, bad karma and traditional teachings on hell realms etc Tibetan Buddhism can give the superficial impression of being rather heavy and grim - yet most of its practitioners develop a light spontaneity and joy as they mellow into the practice and bring their lives into dharma.

Today Venerable Tharchin will talk about how to practice so that we do not make it heavy and joyless and how to bring lightness and openness into our daily life interactions with others. Do come along and meet this charming gentle soul.

/TEACHER

Venerable Tharchin was ordained in 1999 and joined Nalanda monastery the same year. Three years into his ordination he went to Dharamsala to the LRZTP translator program set up by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and graduated from the program after 2 years.

Back at Nalanda he served as translator ever since. In this way he studied and completed the Basic Program 2008-2012 including the three month LamRim retreat.

Since 2013 he is studying by translating the Master Program at Nalanda. He also participated in leading a LamRim retreat at Nalanda 2016 in a shared effort of Nalanda monks. He is giving once a year talks at his center of origin, the Aryatara Institut, Munich, and is leading a Discovering Buddhism course in Romania via Skype.

This will be his first opportunity to talk about Dharma in the UK.
