Prostrations to the 35 Buddhas Practice Day

Prostrations to the 35 Buddhas Practice Day

SUN | 10:00 - 17:00 |  14 APR (Discovering Buddhism)

A key part of Bodhisattva path Buddhism is to strengthen and enhance our mind by identifying and getting rid of the after effects of unskillful actions, such as negative habits of thought which then drive negative patterns of speech or of bodily action.

This practice - which comes to us from the sutras - is specifically to enable us to do that through the mental activity of visualisation, appreciation and motivation; the verbal activity of praise, admitting fault and moving on, and the physical activity of prostration.

For the 3 years 2019 - 2021 Geshe Tenzin Namdak the new resident teacher at Jamyang will offer students the opportunity to study the FPMT Foundation Programme “Discovering Buddhism.

This is a study course in 14 modules that takes around three years to complete part time. His teaching programme will be supported by some of the FPMT Foundation level registered teachers connected with the Jamyang London.

Module 14 of the course is an experiential module which enables students to try out for themselves a number of Tibetan Buddhist practices that stabilize and enhance the compassionate power of the mind. Part of that module is the Prostration to the 35 Buddhas practice. This day will introduce students to the practice and its benefits and how to set up a small daily practice.

All very welcome. You do not have to be super fit in order to offer prostrations, paying respect is first and foremost a mental thing.

Suggested donation £30 for the day (does not include lunch)
