Jamyang Summer Walk

Jamyang Summer Walk
SUN - 23 JUNE
This promises to be one of the best we have ever chosen for the next Jamyang outing. The Pathfinder Guide describes it as outstanding, and fully justifies the longer train journey from Euston to the start at Tring in rural Buckinghamshire.
We follow the final eastern track of the ancient Ridgeway through beech woods, open meadows full of wild flowers, and along the Chiltern escarpment to Ivinghoe Beacon. From the top at 764 feet there is a magnificent panorama over the Vale of Aylesbury and the Dunstable Downs. The return is part of another ancient route, the Icknield Way, passing through National Trust woodlands.
There are several climbs but the paths are good and the views superb all the way. Please bring your own lunch and refreshments as it is just open country, although hopefully there may be a tea shop available on the last stretch before the finish.
Meet promptly at 10.30 am at the small ticket office just before the barriers on platform 11 at Euston Main Line Station. If we buy our tickets together we can get a group reduction, but expect to pay about £9. This is more than our usual travel costs but it is well worth it, so do please join us if you can.
