Easter Retreat

Insight Meditation: A Practical Way to Peace & Ease

RETREAT with Carl Fooks and Andy Wimbush

FRI - SUN | 10:00 - 17:00 | 19 - 21 APR

This weekend retreat will focus on the practical application of some of the Buddha's most accessible and powerful meditation teachings. We will begin by looking at the Five Hindrances — difficult mind states that can seem like obstacles to our meditation practice — and learn that, through examining and befriending the hindrances, they too can become avenues to deepening insight.

Retreatants will then learn how the Buddha's Seven Factors of Awakening, positive mind states that bring relief and release, can be cultivated and put to use in meditative practice.

The retreat will be suitable for anyone with previous experience of mindfulness meditation.

Carl Fooks has been practising Buddhism since the late 1980’s in both the Mahayana and Theravada traditions. He teaches a weekly group in London and retreats at Satipanya Buddhist Retreat Centre and is a Gaia House visiting teacher. He holds an MA in Buddhist Studies from the University of South Wales.

Andy Wimbush is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leaders' programme at Gaia House retreat centre. He has practised insight meditation since 2010 under the guidance of Kenneth Folk, Beth Resnick-Folk, and Rob Burbea.
