A Monk's life. Living in a Buddhist monastery in Europe

FRI  | 17 MAY | 19:00 - 20:30

Suggested donation £10

Join Nalanda monk Venerable Sonam Tharchin for an evening hearing about life in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery deep in France, in the old pays d'oc near Toulouse.  Venerable Tharchin, a German national has spent many years at Nalanda monastery, the FPMT monastery in Europe, and is a senior gelong there. What is a gelong? All will be revealed on Friday night !

He is a lovely, kind, gentle soul, do come along and meet him

Venerable Tharchin was ordained in 1999 and joined Nalanda monastery the same year. Three years into his ordination he went to Dharamsala to the LRZTP translator program set up by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and graduated from the program after 2 years.

Back at Nalanda he served as translator ever since. In this way he studied and completed the Basic Program 2008-2012 including the three month LamRim retreat.

Since 2013 he is studying by translating the Master Program at Nalanda. He also participated in leading a LamRim retreat at Nalanda 2016 in a shared effort of Nalanda monks. He is giving once a year talks at his center of origin, the Aryatara Institut, Munich, and is leading a Discovering Buddhism course in Romania via Skype. This will be his first opportunity to talk about Dharma in the UK.

All welcome.

No-one will be turned away due to the lack of funds

Dharma teachings run on a 'Generosity model', completely on voluntary donations. By donating you will help create the conditions for the teachings to be available, the meals to be served, accommodations to be clean, for the doors to be open and the lights on. Therefore people of any faith or background are welcome.

Booking is not mandatory but highly recommended it because Jamyang can give you a better service
