SUMMARY:Lama Chopa and Tsog Offering (Guru Puja)
DESCRIPTION:Lama Chopa (also known as Guru Puja) is a practice of guru devotion special to the Gelugpa tradition. During this practice\, the lamas of the graduated path lineage beginning with Shakyamuni Buddha himself\, are invoked\, extending to present direct teachers who have shown the path. Practitioners pay homage\, make offerings\, and request each of them to please bless their minds with the same realizations that they themselves have generated. By offering sincere\, heartfelt requests\, students make their minds ripe to receive the full blessings of this precious lineage and quickly actualize the realizations they need to attain enlightenment. If you wish to experience realizations quickly\, the practice of Lama Chopa is indispensable. \nThe benefits of the practice according to Lama Zopa Rinpoche: \nPracticing this Guru Puja\, which is an integration of the three deities\, makes it much easier to achieve enlightenment in a brief life of this degenerated time. DESCRIPTION:About Medicine Buddha Puja \n\nIn Person Only\n\nPujas are rituals in which consecrated offerings – such as food\, water\, light and incense – are made to an enlightened being for the sake of creating conditions for progress on the spiritual path\, as well as removing obstacles. These offerings are made alongside prayer and chanting. \nThe seven Medicine Buddhas\, attainers of bliss\, strongly prayed for the temporal and ultimate happiness of yourself and all sentient beings. They vowed that their prayers would be actualized during these degenerate times when the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha are in decline. As the buddhas’ holy speech is irrevocable\, you can wholly trust in their power to quickly grant blessings to help all sentient beings in these degenerate times\,” Lama Zopa Rinpoche instructs  “If you pray to Guru Medicine Buddha\, you will quickly accomplish all that you wish. Just hearing the holy name of Guru Medicine Buddha and the sound of his mantra closes the door to rebirth in the suffering lower realms. DESCRIPTION:About this teaching\nThis February Yangten Rinpoche will continue his online Saturday morning teachings for the Jamyang community. Following on from his teachings given last year\, Rinpoche will continue his explanation of Lama Tsongkhapa’s revered text\, In Praise of Dependent Origination. The verses\, written after Lama Tsongkhapa attained enlightenment\, express unbounded reverence for the profound reasoning taught by the Buddha so that we may realise emptiness\, the ultimate nature of reality\, and thereby liberate ourselves and others from the suffering of cyclic existence. \nA recording of last years’ teaching can be found at on the Jamyang YouTube channel. Rinpoche will also most likely give a summary of what was covered last time for anyone who was unable to attend the earlier sessions. Students joining for the first time are very welcome. \n  \nAbout the teacher\nBorn in the Kham region of Tibet\, Yangten Rinpoche was recognised as the reincarnation of his predecessor at the age of 10. An alumnus of the illustrious Sera Monastery\, he graduated with the highest possible degree of Lharampa Geshe before completing his studies at Gyuto Tantric College. Since 2008\, at the personal behest of His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, Yangten Rinpoche has been working at the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in various capacities. For the past few years Rinpoche has been offering teachings at Jamyang\, including his teachings on Tsongkhapa’s Song of Experience\, the Ten Innermost Jewels of the Kadam\, as well as dialgoues with Science & Wisdom Live. She is the first woman to ever be awarded the title of Geshe.
