Yard Cafe at Jamyang London Buddhist CentreThe Yard Café is open and welcoming the community back to the Old Courthouse!
The Café has always been a window on Jamyang, a meeting point for the residents from the local community and beyond. People from all walks of life can find a space there to reconnect with a different way of living, more mindful of our deepest interdependence with other beings, the environment and ourselves.
It’s with this vision in mind we are wonderfully pleased to share the news that Jamyang is teaming up this summer with hospitality pioneers Lena and Chris Greenwood, the names behind much loved local venues such as Louie Louie and The Tennis Cafe, to bring our ‘Yard Cafe’ to life.
Hand in hand with Jamyang, the Yard Cafe will be serving delicious coffee and teas, a menu of lunch offerings and daily bakes and pastries every day, including weekends from 9am – 5pm.
Based on an ethos of generosity and compassion, the Yard Cafe will stock and serve coffee from ‘Redemption’ roastery; a charitable initiative providing a framework of training and a route back into community and work for young offenders. It will be part of the ‘Too Good To Go’ network; an endeavour to reduce food waste in the hospitality industry. And it will also run its own beverage based ‘Pay it Forward’ scheme, where coffee-lovers can buy flat whites and filters for members of the local community who may not be able to afford their own.
