Establish Hayagriva
at Jamyang

A New Shrine Unfolds

Losar marks the beginning of something very meaningful for our small gompa. Geshe Namdak is carefully conceptualising a new altar shrine above the mantelpiece, which will unfold in stages over the coming year.

The first phase focuses on protector deities, with Yamantaka and Hayagriva seated either side of Shakyamuni Buddha. Yamantaka has already been generously gifted to the Jamyang community by Yangten Rinpoche. Now we’re hoping to establish Hayagriva.

Why Hayagriva?

Hayagriva is a wrathful manifestation of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion appearing in powerful form to cut through obstacles and protect the Dharma.

Within FPMT, this practice holds a particularly deep connection. Lama Zopa Rinpoche strongly encouraged reliance on Most Secret Hayagriva during times of difficulty, and the practice is closely linked with Sera Jey Monastery, where many of our teachers have trained. For our lineage, this practice is living, relied upon, and trusted.

Why Holy Objects Matter

To establish a holy object is to create causes that continue long after we’re gone. Lama Zopa Rinpoche often reminded us that holy objects benefit beings simply by existing. They radiate blessing, accumulate merit for those who make offerings, and strengthen the conditions for the Dharma to flourish.

Our Goal
£1,000

To bring a Hayagriva statue to Jamyang — part one of a larger vision. Later in the year we’ll fundraise for the central Shakyamuni Buddha statue and the cabinetry to house the full display.

Make an Offering

Here is a small offering for Losar. I walked into Jamyang over 30 years ago…met incredible teachers and my root guru. My life changed forever, so I’m always grateful.

With heartfelt gratitude to all our precious teachers past, present, and future.

The Vision Ahead

Phase One — Losar to Chotrul Duchen We are here
Fundraise £1,000 for the Hayagriva statue. The campaign runs for 15 days, concluding on the Day of Miracles, when the karmic results of our actions are traditionally said to be greatly multiplied.
Phase Two — Later in 2026
Fundraise for the central Shakyamuni Buddha statue to sit between the two protectors.
Phase Three — Completion
Commission the cabinetry that will house the full shrine display above the mantelpiece.

If you’d like to help establish Hayagriva in our gompa, we warmly invite you to make an offering on this auspicious day.
