Ngöndro | New Moon Preliminaries
March 10 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am
See below for pricingAbout these sessions
Preliminary practices are a powerful way to purify negative karma and accumulate merit, particularly in relation to preparing for the advanced practices of the Vajrayana. It is also a wonderful way to remove obstacles and support Jamyang’s Dharma activities. These group sessions are an opportunity for students to build their confidence in and experience of the practices together.
Sessions will take place on the full moon and new moon of each month from February to April. Multiple practices will take place during the same session in different rooms at the centre, so participants can choose which one they would like to do. We will all gather together at the beginning of the session for some brief motivational prayers, before going to our respective rooms.
Is this for me?
It will be assumed that attendees have a basic familiarity with the practices that they choose to participate in, through having received teachings and/or through self-study. Please note that these sessions are not teachings: instructions will not be given by the facilitators; they will be present to hold a mutually supportive environment for practice.
What will I need?
Please bring any practice texts or sadhanas that you use for the specific practice that you are attending. If you are attending the Vajrasattva practice, you might want to bring your mala so you can count your mantras! For prostrations, you might want to bring some gloves or pads to protect your hands (remember, if you are unable to do full or half prostrations, you can still attend and do the practice seated while reciting the text). If you attend the mandala sessions, you will need your own mandala set (including grains or stones to build the mandala). You can order mandala sets online, or you can purchase them from the shop at Jamyang, where there is a limited number in stock.
