Meeting Info: Meet at High Barnet tube station at the end of the Northern Line around 10.45 am, but don’t go through the barriers as we’ll exit from platform 1 through to the car park to set off.

About the Summer Walk:
The start follows the Great North Road for a short way before we can veer off across a meadow and get to the lovely King George’s Field open space that climbs up with great views back toward the city, and leads to the site of the 1471 Battle of Barnet at Monken Hadley Common.
Passing the charming almshouses, and St. Mary’s Church we enter Hadley Woods and reach Jack’s Lake before leaving the leafy canopy and finding a cafe for a lunch stop or pack lunch. (The walk can be shortened here with Cockfosters station nearby).An expansive undulating park drops to a vista of a lake and the imposing Trent Park House, recognised by Historic England as one of London’s grandest Houses. Then a long drive brings us out close to Oakwood Station on the Piccadilly Line for our return to London.
