Dispatch from Kopan and Lawudo with Alison Murdoch

July 1, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Join us as Alison Murdoch, Chair of Jamyang London, shares the experience, with photos and videos, of being at Kopan and Lawudo in the days and weeks after Rinpoche’s passing into Paranirvana. Hear about the incredible practices and talks happening in Kopan and Lawudo done by countless Lamas, monks and nuns and students of Rinpoche from around the world.

After two weeks at Kopan Alison trekked with Paula Chichester to Lawudo Gompa, the retreat centre up at 14,000m in the high Himalayas where Lama Zopa practised in His last life and where His family still live.

Whether you’ve met Rinpoche or not, this is an opportunity to learn about His incredible life but also hear about this extraordinary immersion into Tibetan Buddhist and Sherpa rituals on the death of a great master. We look forward to sharing this powerful learning experience with you at Jamyang London Buddhist Centre, online or in-person, on July 1st at 17:30.

More about the Event

Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, our most kind, most compassionate guru, Spiritual Director of FPMT, and Virtuous Friend to numberless fortunate disciples, passed into Paranirvana on April 13, 2023. Within days, Alison Murdoch flew to Kopan and Lawudo where Lamas, monks, nuns, locals and many students from around the world came together to pray for Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s swift return.

For those who didn’t have the chance to visit Kopan and appreciate the incredible practices and devotions of His students and would like to know more about that, Alison will share this and other memories, reflecting on the many ways Lama Zopa Rinpoche shaped her life.
