Throughout my life, every once in a while I will be doing something mundane and a thought or mental image will pop into my mind that surprises me. I think- where in the world did THAT come from? It could be disturbing, though not all the thoughts or images were bad; they just seemed non-sequitur. When that happens now, I have confidence grown out of many years of thinking about rebirth that it is simply something left from time beyond my ability to remember. Then these odd thoughts feel like they fit somehow. It doesn’t mean I have to dwell on them or work to somehow recall the reason the thought or image arose. With this, things feel more “orderly” for me.

Hello. My name is MaryEllen Kirkpatrick and I live in San Francisco, California. I’m SPC at Ocean of Compassion in Campbell, CA and I volunteer at Vajrapani Institute as well. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity for study with you all under Geshe Namdak. One of many wonderful things about having taken up this study is that I often see people I know from Jamyang in both the Ocean of Compassion and Vajrapani Virtual Gompas.
